Annie was
encouraged to learn to sail at the age of 12 by her father when he purchased a Heron dinghy
which he kept on a
reservoir in England. Sailing was only permitted on the
reservoir in winter as the summer months were reserved for fishermen. It
was not until she and her husband migrated to Australia in 1989 that she
discovered that sailing could actually be fun and not an endurance test!
Annie and her husband
were quickly hooked on sailing. They have enjoyed yacht charter holidays together in The Whitsundays, The Greek Islands, Tahiti and Cornwall.
Annie set about acquiring
the necessary qualifications to become a sailing instructor and coxswain
(charter skipper) and over an eight year period has worked as a skipper and
sailing instructor for three of the leading sailing schools and yacht charter companies in
Sydney. In early 2002, with her latest boat, a new Catalina 32, she decided to
"go it alone" and establish "Sydney Private Sailing".
"Sydney Private
Sailing" aims to provide clients with a personalised, one on one style
of teaching and skippering. If you don't like large organisations and
prefer personal service and attention, with the same instructor or skipper guaranteed every
time, Sydney Private Sailing is for you.
